Not if the move is done right. Every address Google already has either keeps working on the new site or gets a permanent 301 redirect to its new page, titles and descriptions carry over, and the sitemap goes back to Google after launch. On Horizon Home Buyers, all 12 blog posts kept their old addresses.
What carries over
- Every indexed address. I pull the old sitemap and crawl the navigation. Each address keeps working or gets a 301 to its new home.
- Titles and descriptions, rewritten only where they were weak, never dropped.
- Structured data, usually improved, since most WordPress sites ship very little.
- Analytics. The same Google Analytics property keeps running, so your history stays in one place.
- Forms and lead routing, tested before launch.
After the DNS switch, the new sitemap is submitted and the key pages are sent for indexing.
